WEDDING.

VINCENT-MURRELL. A quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated at “Te Kainga,” Wai-iti Road, on March 27th, when Bertha Ellen, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Vincent, of Wilson Street, was married to Mr Robert Murrell, of Manapouri, Southland. The Rev. P. I. Cooke, of Woodlands Street Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. Harold Sharpe, of Christchurch, officiated. The house was decorated with roses and lilies, while in the hall and lounge, large bowls of hydrangea made a charming setting. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely French frock of Mary georgette, with hand-em-broidered insets of silk lace, and vandyked flounces. Her hat was to match, and she carried a bouquet of pink roses and carnations. Two bridesmaids, Miss Evelyn P. Hoskin, of Simon’s Hill, Mackenzie Country, and little Cara Vincent Hall, of Fendalton, Christchurch, were dressed alike in dainty hand-painted frocks of peach-coloured crepe de chine. They wore bandeaux of pink tulle, and had posies of summer flowers.

After the ceremony, the wedding breakfast was held in the dining room, where the tables were artistically arranged with Island poppies and maiden hair fern. The usual toasts were honoured, and the heartiest congratulations and good wishes offered to the bride and bridegroom. Prior to her wedding. Miss Bertha Vincent was the guest of honour at a very enjoyable evening held at the residence of Mr and Mrs W. Watt. On behalf of the members of the West End Choir, the conductor. Mr A. C. Mclnnes, presented Miss Vincent with a beautiful Imperial Amphora vase as a small token of thanks from them for her good services rendered to the Choir since its inception. Mr Mclnnes expressed the good wishes of all members for her future happiness, and all present heartily endorsed his remarks. Mr R. Murrell, who was also present, suitably replied for Miss Vincent. The time was passed with several competitions, and members of the Choir provided much-appreciated musical items. A delightful supper, served by Mrs Watt, brought the pleasant function to a close.

Miss Vincent was also the recipient of a handsome gift in the form of a Cloisonne enamel vase, from the Woodlands Street Methodist Choir, where she has been a helpful and loyal member.
