SPANISH KING ATTACKED.
Violent Speech At Banquet. POLICE DISPERSE DINERS. (United Press Association—By Electrlo Tel egraph—Copyrigh t.) (Received April 9, 9.30 p.m.) MADRID, April 9. One of the liveliest banquets on record took place at the Hotel National, in honour of the Republican, Senor Domingo, in connection with his book, “Where Goes Spain?” Five hundred guests were present. The speakers were warned not to abuse the Government’s new permission to hold public gatherings, but one guest declared that he was not going to mince his words, and he attacked King Alfonso, whereupon a Government official declared the banquet suspended, and called in dozens of police, with drawn swords. The diners fled amid a pandemonium of wrecked tables and smashed crockery. Eight were arrested, but were later released.
