Injuries w’ere sustained by William Cameron yesterday afternoon when the lorry he was driving collided with a train on a level crossing, about five miles from Putaruru. Cameron was driving a lorry laden with chaff from Lichfield to Putaruru. The injured man was admitted to the Rotorua hospital, where his condition is satisfactory. HOSPITAL FATALITY. 0y Telegraph—Pres* 4**oc.latlou. AUCKLAND, April 9. George S. Hodgson (43), who fell irom the balcony of a hospital ward on Monday, died of injuries yesterday. An inquest was opened, and adjourned for a post mortem. ACCIDENTAL DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N., April 9. A verdict that deceased met his death as a result of shock and haemorrhage due to an accidentally self-inflicted wound, was returned by the Coroner, Mr A. J. Graham, at the inquest concerning the death of Albert A’Court, who received injury while cutting flax for Whitanui Limited, in a swamp between Foxton and Shannon. The Coroner added that everything possible appeared to have been done, and deceased had every attention. DEATH IN MINE. By Telegraph—Press Association. WESTPORT. April 9. An unusual fatality occurred in the Denniston mine this morning, when David Marr, a miner (62), was found dead. It is thought that deceased injured his head and tried to walk out of the mine, but when he had gone a considerable distance he collapsed and died. There was an injury on the head when found.
