EMPIRE GAMES. By Telegraph—Prea« Association. WELLINGTON, April 5. The New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association is considering a change of name, by adding “and cycling” before Association.” Neither Rose nor Evans is available to go to Canada, and there are no cycle races in which Grose could compete, so that it will not be an easy matter to find worthy representatives at the Empire Games. The Association has appointed Messrs Guy, Austad and Tracey, as selectors, to report by April 12. CAMERON TO REPRESENT AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 5. I. W. Cameron, champion swimmer, who went over to Australia from New Zealand, has been selected, as a member of the Empire Games swimming team, according to a private cable received to-day. BAPTIST HARRIERS’ CLUB RUN. The Baptist Harriers had another enjoyable run on Saturday last, when a good muster of runners turned out. Mrs Duncumb was hostess for the afternoon, and the run started from the Manse, then via Woodlands road to Otipua road, and along to the cemetery corner. Here, a turn to the right brought the pack to Saltwater Creek, the outskirts of which were followed till the railway was reached. Progress was then made parallel with the railway, for some distance until the runners turned inland again and proceeded along the road until the main south road was traversed. The course then lay across country, and on gaining the Fairview Road, the pack lined up for a race home. A handicap was given to the slow pack. The placing were:—R. C. Holmes 1, A. Hopkins 2, W. Tizard 3. A most enjoyable afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Duncumb and Mr R. C. Holmes expressed the club’s appreciation. ANGLICAN HARRIERS’ CLUB. The Timaru Anglican Harrier Club held their opening run on Saturday afternoon, from St. Mary’s Hall, Church Street. Fifteen harriers were present, and two packs—fast and slow —took the trail, the paper being laid by C. F. Berry and H. T. Valentine. The captain and vice-captain, who were picked before the run started, G. Broadhead being elected captain and R. J. Taylor vice-captain. The trail covered a distance of six miles, from St. Mary’s Hall to Sophia Street, to Sefton Street, then to Sarah Street, to the Viaduct, via Benevnue Cliffs, to the Freezing Works; along the edge of Washdyke Lagoon as far as Washdyke traffic bridge, then turning sharp to the left, and circling the back of Grant’s estate; then round to the show grounds. A good number of ploughed paddocks were then traversed and the course ran back via the Benvenue Cliffs.

The first home in the fast pack was G. Broadhead, G. Valentine and D. Riddler being second equal. H. Preston was first in the slow pack and X. Bennetts second.

After the run, the harriers were entertained at afternoon tea by members of St. Mary’s Young Ladies’ Club, and was greatly appreciated by all the runners.

The Rev. H. W. Monaghan, acting president, made short reference to the formation of the Young Men’s Club and to the fine progress of the new Harrier Club.

The secretary, R. J. Taylor, on behalf of the Harriers, thanked the ladies for the splendid afternoon tea, and hoped that it wouldn’t be long before the ladies had a club formed, taking the form of ramblers or harriers.

Miss F. Sunaway, secretary of the Young Ladies’ Club replied. The Harriers’ Club will be entertained by St. John’s Tennis Club at Waiiti Road, next Saturday.
