Protracted Illness Ends. UNABLE TO RECOGNISE KING. (Received April 6, 5.5 p.m.) ROME, April 4. The death is announced of Queen Victoria of Sweden. It is a poignant fact that Queen Victoria was unable to recognise King Gustav who arrived at the bedside while she was dying. King Gustav reached Naples on Thursday, when, in consequence of reassuring reports as to the Queen’s condition, he visited the theatre. He immediately received news that the Queen was worse and continued the journey to arrive just in time to see her before death. Queen Victoria suffered from lung trouble for many years, and finally her heart weakened. The King and Queen of Italy placed flowers on the death-bed. SORROW IN SWEDEN. ALL FESTIVITIES ABANDONED.
