Activities Of Bandits. POLICE OFFICERS KILLED. (United Press Association--By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received March 16, 5.5 p.m.) VANCOUVER, March 15. A message from Denver states that three desperate bandits killed two policemen and wounded four others, following their dash upon the State Bank of Manter, in Kansas, and robbing it of £IOOO. At Eades, in Colorado, Sheriff Hickman was killed when a posse attempted to stop the bandits’ motor car, which was speeding through the town to the western mountain passes. The robbers then tried to double back into Kansas, by a circuitous route, but Sheriff William Cole and three officers attempted to hold them, by crossing the highway at Cheyenne Wells, but the bandits killed Sheriff Cole, wounded two of his men, captured their automobile, and headed eastward.
Overtaken By Police. The three desperadoes were surrounded and surrendered to machinegun fire, after leading the police a hard chase through three States for twenty-seven hours. All were escaped prisoners, who had previously been convicted of murder. The police will demand the death penalty for their slaying of two sheriffs on Friday. END OF TERRORISM. After six months’ terrorism in the Hamm district, of Westphalia, where 160 robberies with violence have occurred, the police captured a gang of desperadoes, led by a woman, aged 60, with two sons as deputy leaders, ohe of whom hanged himself in the cell after arrest.
