MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Committee of the Society for the Preservation of Curelty to Animals, was held on February 19., present—Mr A. S. Elworthy (in the chair), Mesd-ames R. H. Rhodes, Edgar Jones, A. C. Wigley. Messrs H. Sinclair Thomson, A. E. Le\ys, C. G. Baker, G. Gliddon. The inspector reported on his actions during the month, having been called in to inspect nine animals which were Suffering. He had visited Waimate district and had inspected some cases there. It was decided to support the proposal to hold a conference in Wellington, and to send a delegate to represent the Society. The sub-committee appointed to draw up a programme for a propo.sed garden party and Gymkhana to be held at Holme Sation, on March 29, submitted a report, suggesting that sub-committees be arranged to take charge of the various activities. The following were appointed with power to act:— Refreshments and games—Lady members of the committee. Motor car events and parking of cars—Mr H. Sinclair Thomson. Pony Events—Mr M. Harper. Dogs and pets—Mr A. E. Lewis. Sheep dog trial —Mr Jas. Davison. Spar boxing—Mr Geo. Farrar. Gates and treasurer—Mr S. D. Mason. Publicity—Messrs C. G. Baker ana W. D. Revell, with power to add. The charge for admission was fixed at one shilling for adults and sixpence for children. It was decided to arrange for bands to be in attendance. Arrangements were made for the conveyance of passengers out to Holme Station during the afternoon. On the motion of the chairman, a vote of sympathy was passed with Mr F. F. Neale in his recent accident.
