FAREWELL TO LADY SWIMMERS. Misses P. Robertson and M. Farqui har, the New Zealand lady champion 1 swimmers who had been visiting Wai- \ mate, left yesterday to catch the first j express for the north. The swimmers were bade goodbye on the Waimate | Railway Station by the Mayor (Mr G. ! Dash), the president .of the Waimate I Swimming Club A. Sawell), and j other officers of the club, and many of the staff and pupils of the Waimate j High School. Mr Dash presented the swimmers and the chaperones each j with a “Book of Waimate,” and the ! swimming members were each re- ; cipients of gold armlets from the Club, j Mr Sawell said he felt that swim- , ming, particularly among the young I people of Waimate, had improved conI siderably as the result of the swimi mers’ visit. Mr Sawell then made the I presentation on behalf of the Club. Mrs Johnstone returned thanks on I behalf of her charges. In the morning at the Municipal Baths, Misses Robertson and Farquhar 1 were presented with a casket of choco- ; lates from the boys and girls of the Waimate High School, in appreciation of the coaching given them.
