LAND OF BACHELORS.
IRISH FREE STATE. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received February 4, 7.55 p.m.) LONDON, February 4. The Irish Free State census figures just issued reveal that the country possesses the world’s highest percentage of bachelors. There is also a marked tendency to late marriages. Between the ages of 20 and 30 the percentage of bachelors is eighty, and between 30 and 35 sixty-two. The next highest known percentage of bachelors is in Sweden, where comparative figures between 25 and 30 is sixty-four. Corresponding figures are: England and Wales forty-five; America thirty-five. The returns also show that one out of every four women remaining in the Irish Free State never marries.
