WALTZ CHAMPIONSHIP
AT BAY HALL. A most successful dance, arranged by the Ladies’ Committee of the Caledonian Queen was held in the Bay Hall on Saturday evening, and was attended by considerably over 100 couples. During the evening, the evening, the South Island waltzing championship was held, and the decision of the judge in awarding the honour to Mr and Mrs A. Paterson, met with general approval. As this dance was such a huge success, and at the request of the dancers, the Ladies’ Committee have decided to run the dance weekly, and it is their intention to introduce into their programme novelty dances, which at present are having a great run in the cities. Mr C. Hooper, assisted by Mr C. Bums, had charge of the floor, and they both did their work well. The ladies arranged a dainty supper, and first-class music was supplied. Extras were played by Miss Hislop and Mr Walker. At the conclusion, all present agreed that the evening’s fu"ction had been one of the most enjoyable of the year.
