HOCKEY NOT FOR GIRLS.
BASKETBALL PREFERRED. By Teleftaph—Pre«iK Asuociatioa. HAMILTON, August 24. A report disapproving of hockey for girls was presented to the High Schpol Board by the principal (Mr Eben Wilson) Basketball was preferable, stated the report, as less straining, producing better all-round development, and requiting a smaller ground. Mr Wilson quoted the opinions ot Mr H. E. Longworth, Dominion direc tor of physical education, and numerous principals of girls’ and mixed secondary schools almost unanimously disapproving of hockey and preferring basketball. The board accepted the report and declined to admit hockey as a girls' game.
