Ward. W. J. Bassett, J. K. Jamieson, J. Parry, P. Squires, A. Fraser, A. Gibson, J. Nicol, W. Divan. E. Hyde, C. Johnston, J. Edgar, and the secretary (Mr E. Cartwright). The chairman invited suggestions on criticisms in regard to the recent ploughing match. If there were any improvements to effect, this was the time to discuss them. A number of suggestions were made, principally in regard to the dog trials, and it was decided that in future more space should be devoted for the competition. Members expressed the opinion that the dog trials had been a decided acquisition to the match. The secretary reported that the Government Publicity Department had decided to film the activities at the ploughing match next year. Accounts amounting to £96/13/6 were passed for payment. Votes of thanks were passed to the following: Mr Donald Grant, for use of his paddock; Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association, for use of hurdles; farmers who had lent teams; Mr J. Shaw, for .loan of saddle horses; Mr A. Hay, who had acted as assistantsecretary; Pyne. Gould, Guinness, for use of their rooms; the judges; Messrs J. Wright and A. Annand and Co., for offer of a cup for annual competition; and to all others who had in any way assisted with the ploughing match. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the chairman and secretary.
