Britain Demands Guarantee
BIG DIFFICULTIES AHEAD

Ordinarily Ziwar Pasha would have handed in his resignation yesterday morning, but difficulties liavo arisen, and it has consequently been postponed. It is generally understood that Sir George Lloyd (British High Commissioner in Egypt) insisted on guarantees in the event of Zaghlul Pasha forming a Cabinet. Those were not forthcoming.
It is also understood that Zaghlul Pasha desired to include Ahmed Maher, who was among those acquitted in the recent murder trial.
The “Daily Telegraph’s” diplomatic correspondent says : “It is understood the British Government is extremely dissatisfied with the result of the recent trial of men charged with the murder of the late Sirdar, but nothing yet has been decided.” > The general situation in Egypt is undoubtedly grave.
