WHO INVENTED THE TANK?

Mr Justice MeCardie, in giving judgment for the Crown in the tank invention action, said Lord Kitchener displayed no active interest in the tank project. He had not realised that such a weapon was within the range ot practical achievement. The incidents in respect to the tank were m.nor factors in Lord Kitchener's career. Justice MeCardie, in giving his judgment, said that Lieutenant Bentley was an unsatisfactory witness. Many answers were substantially false. He concluded that Lieutenant Bentley had no conversation with Lord Kitchener in October, 1914. The alleged pencil notes were written at a much later ejate.
