CAPTIVE FOR TWO YEARS.
FRENCH CHATEAU SENSATION.
(Received July 19, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, July 18
In consequence of an anonymon., letter, the police visited the chateau of Charles Sol or, litterateur and explorer, and found Madame Soler lying in the topmost room, the door of which was chained and padlocked. She was .shockingly emaciated, and told the police a'pitiful story. She alleged that she had been confined for two years by Imr husband, who- demanded slm should make a will in his favour. Eventually she yielded, under threats. She now 'charges lier husband of attempting to kill her by slow starvation. The woman certainly appeared a living skeleton. She saw no one but her husband's secretary. Mademoiselle Do La Pl.-mge, who unlocked tho door to the riolice only, as it is alleged, under protest. Madame Soler was taken to hospital, and her Im-bnnd and Mademoiselle charged with sequestration and violence.
