HUNTING.

MEET AT HOSEWILL

Thursday being an off day, only a small held turned up at Ilosewill fcchool, and thougn the morning s hunt-, mg was rather uisappointmg, two runs in the afternoon quite redeemed the day and turned what looked like being a-poor meet into quite, a good one. Hounds wero thrown off in Mr Hindley’s, and almost immediately a hare was chopped. After drawing a couple of lields blank, a. hare was found which straightway made for the big gully at the back of Mr Bassett’s. Another hare also made good. her escape in the same way. ’The third gave a sharp hunt over li . miles tnrough Messrs Bassett’s and Hindley’s, and was finally lost at the back of Mr Bassett’s liomestoad. After luuoh hounds were cast off in Mr W. Divan’s, and almost immediately a hare was viewed away. Taking a similar line to the famous run or two years ago, and the almost equally good one of last year, she carried the field at a great pace through Mr Divan’s and the corner of Mr Hart’s and out on to Basestt’s road; down this for half a mile, and then right-handed into Mr Love’s and across a couple of his fields, and then right-handed into Mr Brosnahan’s. Hounds ’ were still travelling fast and closing on their quarry, and she then veered on to the road close to Mr King’s homestead with the pack a few chains away. Here she must have lain up, for once on the road scent, which up till now had been breast-high, failed utterly, and hounds were deprived of a well-earned kill. Another first-class run of about Similes took the field from the back of Mr King’s homestead through Mr Brosnahan’s, to Messrs Hay and Hornbrook’s homestead. Here the hare doubled on its trades, and after heading due east for several fields turned left-handed into Mr Brosnahan’s and made for Bassett’s Hoad. With a kill imminent hounds - were hunting well, but a fresh hare crossed the line, and by the time the pack had been whipped off puss had made good her escape. Those out were: —The Master (Mr C. L. Orbell) on Across, Huntsman - (J. Shaw) on Bedouin, Whip' (K Shaw) cn Message Boy,- Miss B. Harper on Challenge, Miss It. Elworthy on Ladybird, Miss C. Elworthy on Limestone, Miss E.
