BUTTER SUPPLIES.
PRODUCTION IN AUSTRALIA,
By Cable—Press Association—Copyrigb SYDNEY, June 25.
Referring to butter production at the annual Conference of Co-opera-tive Dairy Managers’ and Secretaries’ Association, Mr F. A. Chaffey said the peak year was 1920-1921, when the amount produced reached 95,000,0001 b. Last year the total was 6.3,000,0001 b. This-year it appeared likely to reach 65,100,0001 b. He said that as this variation resulted largely from the amount of feed available, it seemed more attention should he given to feeding, and the necessity for food, conservation. Overproduction was the greatest myth ever preached. Tlte real trouble was under production, because it meant that they were unable to maintain their export trade.
The president (Mr Stoner), in a review of the year, said the lot of dairy farmers during the- last two years, had been an unenviable one. There had been the most erratic seasons .-wer experienced. Mr Maclnness, Stale dairy expert, said the reports from Ldndon showed that New Zealand butter had gone back, while that of New South Wales had come out on top.
