JOSEPH COTTON HUDDLESTON. ' , For many years Inspector of Stock' in South Canterbury, and formerly ‘in the'Amur! district, North Canterbury, tffe late Mr Joseph Cotton Huddleston, whose death occurred at his resident, Avenue Road on Monday, was a man widely known and respected throughout the district, both-in his private life and in connection with his official duties. In his early life the deceased gentleman joined the Government . Survey Department, and for several years worked under his father, Mr Henry Huddleston, who was engineer in charge of the construction of the main north line from Christchurch. Ip 1892 he entered the Department .cjt Agriculture, and for about 12 years was stock inspector for the Amuri district, being transferred to -this district in 1904, and retiring ..■from the service on October 31st, 1922. In 1910 the deceased married .Miss Lucy Revell, and leaves a widow, a son and two daughters, to mourn His loss. Since his retirement the deceased’s health had steadily failed, and developing pleurisy, he passed peacefully away on Monday evening. The late Mr Huddleston was a man of most upright character, and carried out his duties in that conscientious manner so characteristic of his nature. - -
