SOUTH CANTERBURY BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the South Canterbury Branca of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association was held last evening. Present —Messrs B. M. iugiis (chairman.), A. N. Dakey R. S. Goodman, \V. H. Hayman, it. Wallace, R. J. McKenzie, H. B. Courtis, E. A. Holdgate, J. C. Mason, and E. C- Berry. CORRESPONDENCE. The Timaru Borough Council wrote asking for information regarding the names of any men whose record should be placed upon their roll of honour. it was stated that the Borough Council roll not being an official record, the Association could only forward the names of the men, whom they personally knew were entitled to be recorded on the roll. The chairman stated that < -the administration of the Poppy Day Fund required urgent attention, and suggested that the Borough Council be asked for its usual subsidy for the amounts to be devoted to the relief fund. chairman’s suggestion be carried into effect and that the Council be asked for a subsidy. DISTRICT CONFERENCE. Mi' R. B. Bell reported that he had attended the Conference and had presented the various remits passed during the year, all of which had been adopted. Various alterations had been made to the organisation and constitution of the New Zealand R.S.A., including the abolition of the district scheme, with the exception _of representation, and the presentation of remits. It had also been decided to form a central association, apart from any branch of the Association, such association providing that the membership was sufficient, to have the status of a branch. The report was adopted and a vote of thanks ' was accorded Mr Bell for his report.
