POINT-TO-POINT MEETING

The South Canterbury Hunt’s point-to-point steeplechase meeting will be held to-morrow near Waitawa. The starting and finishing point will bo at the homestead of Mr Driscoll junr., which is situated about halt a mao irom the main Point road. Vehicles, which will he parked at Mr Driscoll s, will reach the *‘course l ’ by taking the road running westward on the iimaru side of the Waitawa station. Riders must weigh out by 1.30 p.m., the start of the rirst event, the lightweight steeplechase, being timed for 2 o’clock, and must provide themselves with proper lead-bags. The course is an ideal one for the purpose, 24 fences being included,with two road doubles, and the ground is mainly old pasture. .From the onlookers’ standpoint, the venue-is especially suitable, as a good view of the whole race will be obtainable without the usual amount of moving from place to place. The presentation of trophies will be held at the conclusion of the programme.
