THEFT OF WHISKY. By Telegraph—Press AssoeintlonNAPIER, June 12. At the Supremo Court to-day Charles Bernard Miller, Frederick McKinley, John Rattray Dunlop, and Arthur Swain appeared on a charge or entcrincr the Harbour Board shed and stealin” a cask of whisky, valued at £lU>. A °charge oi receiving also was pro lerred. After hours’ retirement the jury disagreed. With the exception of Miller the accused all made written statements admitting certain connection with the ail air, but the statements did not agree. The whisky was taken to Meaneo and buried <-ero, and three accused admitted taknK, part in these operations. A new trial was ordered for next session.
BREAKING AND ENTERING. By Telegraph—Press Aasoclutt-n AUCKLAND, June 12. At the Police Court, Walter Eric Harland (22) pleaded guilty, and was committed for sentence on nine charges of having broken and entered the premises of Hih and Plummer, and stolen goods to the value ot £lll 16s ltd. Accused was formerly emploved by the firm, and was given a key” of a bulk store. On leaving their employ ho got a duplicate made. A master builder, named William Henry Wolfo, was charged with receiving the goods, knowing they had been dishonestly obtained. He pleaded not guilty, and was committed !or trial.
