SALE OF WORK. 4.t Chalmers Church Schoolroom last evening, despite the inclemency of the weather a large crowd attended tho sale of work held under the auspices of the Ladies’ Guild ' The stalls were well patronised, and at the close oi the evening presented a very bare appearance. The afternoon session resulted in the selling of a great deal of produce, while in the evening, with the younger element present, the various competitions were simply “rushed.” Several much appreciated musical items wore contributed by Mr B. A. DeLatour’s orchestra. Jn" opening the bazaar, Rev. Mr Dutton. ex-Moderator of the General Assembly, stressed the importance of the work carried out by the ladies in church affairs. The stall-holders were as follows Produce, Mesdames Renton,' Reid, Stonyer, and Waddell; sweet stall, .Mesdames McKerchar, Gow, and Currie: girls auxiliary stall, Mesdames Seward, Anderson, and Miss Gibson; P.W.MM. stall, Mesdames Grant, Renton, Mcßae, Russell, and McLean ; Busy Bees, Mesdames Hughes, Pringle, and Miss McCaskill, tea room, Mrs McLennan and helpers; games, Mr Reid and Bible Class hoys; judge ot baking competition, Miss Mcllroy. The winners of the baking competition are as follows: —Rich fruit cake, M iss Winter; sultana cake, Miss Pringle; sponge cake. Miss Winter; chocolate cake, Miss Mitchell; pastry, Mrs Stewart; fancy biscuits, Miss Gotv; shortbread, Miss Ramsay; sponge cake, schoolgirls, M. Cleland; ginger bread, Mrs Renton; oven scones, Miss Sherlock; girdle s,concs, Mrs McLennan; collection of sweets (made by boys), W. Pringle. The bazaar will open again at 2.30 this afternoon, and will continue until late in the evening.
