Sydney University turned the table on New Zealand University after a patchy game which revealed weak defence on both sides. Sydney were much superior to the visitors in passing rushes, and most of their scores were attributable to their excellence in this department. The New Zealand pack 'was suprior to the opposing vanguard in the loose, but the nippiness of Sheehan, Stanley and Nothling circumvented their promising movements. At half time the scores were Sydney 14, New Zealand 0. The final scores were Sydney 37 New Zealand .. ..14 For Sydney, Stanley scored a try, kicked a penalty goal, and converted three tries; Sheehan converted two. tries; Nothling scored two tries, "and' kicked a penalty goal; Foote secured two tries, and Hingst and Callaghan one try each. For New Zealand Diack kicked two penalty goals, scored one try and converted it.

Over 70 teams have entered, and altogther 67 games will be necessary unless there are defaults.
