I fcRIQUI FEATHER CHAMPION. i 1 _ KNOCKS OUT KILBANE. By, Cable—Press Association —Copyright. NEW YORK, June 2. Eugene Criqui, the French champion, won the featherweight championship of the world by knocking out Johnny Kilbane in the sixth round of a bout scheduled for fifteen rounds.

The bout was interesting because of the manner in which the Frenchman felt out his opponent in the first round and then proceeded to take the aggressive.

Criqui was wild in the second and third rounds, missing many rights and lefts to the face through being over-anxious to finish his opponent. In the fourth and fifth rounds the Frenchman succeeded in landing several heavy blows to the face which slowed up Kilbane, and the end was in sight when Criqui rocked Kilbane with a terrific right to the nose at the end of the fifth round.

KILBANE TAKES THE COUNT. Criqui inflicted telling punishment in the sixth, and a hard right to the stomach followed up by a right to the jaw resulted in Kilbane being knocked out.

MORGAN BEATS DE SILVA. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. SYDNEY, June 2. Danny Morgan (Wales) knocked . out Kid de Silva in the seventh round after an uninteresting contest. McCLEARY BEATS HEENEY. WINS ALL THE WAY. By Cable—Press Association-—Copyright. CHRISTCHURCH, June 3. The professional boxing match for a purse of £2OO between Brian McCleary (Christchurch) and Jack Heeney (Gisborne) drew a big crowd to King Edward Barracks last night, . 17 00 persons paying for admission. The fight was a very disappointing affair. McCleary led right from the start, and each round only added to his points. Had McCleary possessed a knock-out blow three rounds would have ended the fight, as Heeney was obviously outclassed, and the decision in McCleary’s favour at the end of fifteen rounds was the only possible one.
