Mackenzie and another seaman, were washed off. The other was drowned, hut Mackenzie drifted to an island. He spent nineteen days, during •which he had little food, ;n making a raft out of kerosene cases. He attempted to reach another island, "out lost his raft. He swam back and spent ten more days on the island. He built another raft, and reached a settler's house on Marble'lsland. ; He was almost exhausted by starvation.
