FIRE.
FAMILY BURNED OUT. About 1.35 this morning the brigade received a call to a. fire at the corner of Collingwood and MiltCn. Streets, Craighead. 'The brigade Wea-e, quickly on tlie but the fire had too good a hold and the house and Contents were completely destroyed; The house, wliich was • practically new, contained five rooms, and was owned by Mr Brown and occupied by Mr W. J. Adams. The insurance ton the house was not available and furniture was insured for £l5O in the National Office. The fire, Which commenced in the front room, Spread, very rapidly, and two little children had a. 1 erj narrow esc?pe, just being rescued in time. Tlie brigade wer6 greatly hampered by the .poor pressure. Maiiio are laid neither in nor Milton Street, and a lead had to be brought from Wai-iti Road, a distance of- over 65oft. .
