Mr Somerville proposed -a vote of thanks and confidence, which, was seconded by Mr J. Adams and carried. THE TEMUKA SEAT. Mr C. E. Ken-, Government candidate -for t-he Temuka seat, addressed, a large meeting in the Gannii?gton School on Wednesday night- Mr Cabot, chairman of the school committee, presided. The speaker received a most attentive hearing and his remarks wer©. frequently applauded. Among the ques-t-ions asked was one relating to the alteration by the Commission in regard to. the price of wheat and flour. Mr Kerr made it clear that Mr Masseiy tiid nOfc reduce the prices in the first-in-stance. It was the Commission Which at first proposed to fix the price of wheat at 5s 3d and flour at £l3 per ton, but actually fixed them at. 4s 9d and £ll las respectively. What Mr MasSey 'did was to refer the matter hack to the Commission, and, when they could not agree, the Government enforced the prices first suggested. Mr D. Maxwell moved a hearty vote oi ■thanks, to the speaker, and 6aid_ they would show their confidence in him at the ballot box. This was seconded by Air R» Williams and carried unanimously. . A vote of thanks to the chairman, .closed the- meeting. r
