CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN MARKET.
Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 3. The local wheat market remains without change. There is a considerable amount of stook-ilu-e.-hed wheat being offered, and so far the demand on the part of millers and merchants lias been good, and sales of milling wheat are not difficult to effect at 3s Id to 3s 2d at country stations, while wheat not quite no to standard has made 3s. A considerable proportion of the wheat rmrchased has been on account of North Island millers. Local millers are not quits so keen as they were to make purchases at.' .he prices thev have been giving, and now that thev have laid in stocks may soon be expected to ease off in their operations. Though tho weather has been somewhat unsettled, and there have been some showers of rain, harvesting and threshing work lias made good progress during the week. Oats are still slow m coming forward. A few sales of Gartens at. 2s, and Duns at Is lOd at country stations have been made during the week. There is nothing fresh to report in barley, and little business has yet been done in oatsheaf chaff. Growers of cocksfoot on tho Peninsula are still holding firmly for their own prices, and business in this seed is therefore limited.
