DROUGHT IN CANADA. The "Daily Mail" says that, the drought in Canada is becoming more serious daily in Southern Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Many farmers in Alberta are ploughing up their wheat. The ''Times," however, gives later reports to tho effect that general showers have fallen in Manitoba, and the condition of the crops promises to be excellent.

DOMINION DAY. There was a great gathering of Canadians on Dominion Day in London, Lord Strathcona presiding. King George sent a message of felicitation to the gathering. The Hon. Mr Fielding remarked that if at any time the people of the Motherland desired a preferential arrangement with the colonies, Canada's right to enter into such an arrangement would be unimpaired by any commercial arrangement. That principle should -be maintained in any future arrangements, whether with the United States or with European countries. EXCITEMENT IN CANADA.
