THE EMPIRE MATCH. •Prass Associntion-By Telegi'apli-Copyrigbt LOiSUON. July 1. Strong and variable winds and showers have been experienced at the Bisley meeting. • The competitors in the Empire Match aro 'Britain, India, Singapore, Australia and Canada, the latter using the Ross rifle. The Australian team consists of the following: Armstrong, Boyd, Burgoyne, Cutler, Goy, Grant, JHalligan, and Williams. In the first stages of the Empire Match the scores were Britain 1139, Australia 1136, Canada 1128. Australia was third at 200 yards, but after 500 yards went up to second place. Singapore scored 1091, and India 1064. Torrential rain showers fell several times. Armstrong, Grant and "Williams made possibles at 200 yards and Boyd a possible at 500 yards. The highest indi- i vidual scorer was Wallingford (a Britisher) with 148, Armstrong (an Australian) was next. The scores made by the Australians were:—Armstrong 146, Grant and Boyd 144, Goy 143, Cutler and "Williams 141, Burgoyne 140, Halligan 136. The cadets have arrived safely, and are quartered at Kensington baTracks.

WIN FOR THE BRITISH. Received 12.40 a.m., July 4th. LONDON, July 3. A terrific rainstorm swept the 900 yards range, and a further heavy rain squall during the firing at 1000 yards disconcerted the overseas riflemen, Boyd missing five times at 900 yards. The British team won the Empire Match with 2177, Canada coming next with 2105, Australia 2045, India 1973, Singapore 1972. Major Pain.e, commanding tho Australians, hoped that the British would defend the trophy in Aiistralia next year. He declared that the storm at the 900 yards range had destroyed their chances.
