TECHNICAL EDUCATION.

TEMUKA. The monthly meeting of the above Association was held on Tuesday, the following being present:—Messrs M. McLeod, M.A. (chairman), G. Thomson, AY. Jeffries, T. Buxton, A. Frew, F. Saunders, j. AY. Joynt- J. Bambridge, and the director, Mr Smart. Before the proceedings commenced, the chairman moved a. motion of sympathy mourning the loss sustained by tho death of King Edward A"1I. Mr Buxton seconded the motion, which was carried in silence. During the discussion on the confirmation of the minutes of last meeting. Mr Buxton remarked that he thought the Board should keep in view the desirability of having a. " visible" typewriter for the use of students. Had he been present at last meeting he would have opposed the motion then carried. Messrs Jeffries a:;d McLeod said one visible typewriter should 'nave been procured. After discussion MrBuxton moved that the portion of the minute carried at hist meeting referring to not purchasing a. visible typewriter ha rescinded. This was ' accepted as a. notice of motion for nest meeting. Accounts amounting to £lO 5s Gd were passed for payment. The director reported that the attendances were a record: the mi oil roll totalled 140, and the class rolir, 165. All the classes were splendidly attended, and two pupils Lad .to be fused to the wool classing owinrr to want of room, the class being filled. Mr Bambridge reported for the visi T tors that all the classes were doing good work. The attendances at cookery, dressmaking, wool classing, and wood-carving were exceptionally good. Messrs Jeffries and Buxton were :inpointed visitors for the ensninrr month. In reply to Mr Jeffries, the chairman mentioned that a-s far as he knew the agricultural instructor would give lessons iu the. following branches of sericulture : —Agricultural chemistry, physics and farm mechanics, surveying and mensuration, anatomv of farm smiinnls. woodwork suitable for farms, dairying, beekeeping, and other general principles. The meeting then terminated.
