The secretary of the Rugby Union has received official intimation that A. Budd, of the Star Club, has been chosen to fill ?.litchell's place in the New Zealand team which leaves for Australia on 3rd June. Four matches are to be played on the Athletic Grounds this afternoon. A third and a fourth-grade match will be played on each ground, and at 3.10 Star and Zinsari seniors, meet on Xo. 1 area, and Tiniaru and Celtic seniors try conclusions on No. 2. Previous form points io a close game in each instance, lirovided full teams take the tick!. At Temuka. Pirates and Temuka first fifteens are expected to furnish a fine contest. f A TEST GAME. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 25. The New Zealand Native rugby football team which is to tour Australia played a match against the Auckland representatives this afternoon and ! were defeated by 14 points to 6. The team, comprises some fine players, but their condition and combination is not gooci. The team will, however, quickly improve.
