TIMARU v. FAIR-LIE. A team of golfers journeyed from Tiniaru to Fairlie yesterday and spent a highly enjoyable day on the A\ inscombo links. Tile weather was all that could bo desired, being neither too hot nor too cold, and tne hospitable v.-ay in which the Fairlie people treated the visitors was greatly appreciated, the ladies associated with the Fairlie Club providing morning anil aiternoon tea, as v. oil as a splendid luncheon. The golfers, representing tile township of the hills, proved too good for the players from Tiinr.ru, as details of the play will show.
