REQUEST FOR A DISSOLUTION, TERMS OF THE COALITION. Press Assocktidn-By Telegraph-Copyright MELBOURNE, May 31. Mr Fisher will wait oft Lord Dudley, the Governor-General, to-day, and ask. for a dissolution. Opinion in political circles is that it will,be declined. Mr Cook states that' the coalition compromise provides for no interference with the protectionist policy of the present .Customs tariff, Or., in rectifying tariff anomalies, and~ as "regards tho new protection, there will he no serious encroachment upon the rights of the States to control. their own industrial affairs. The fiscal compromise will cover this and the next Parliament. Mr Reid says he is convinced of the wisdom and patriotism of the coalition. DECISION POSTPONED. Received 12,40 a.m., June Ist. MELBOURNE, May 31. Mr Fisher waited on Ldrd Dudley early this afternoon, and presented in writing his reasons in favour of a dissolution. Lord Dudley intimated that he would give his. decision later.
