THE PRIME MINISTER.
THE FINANCES. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHUItCH, March 6. The Prime Minister arrived in "Christchurch by steamer from Dunedin this morning, and all the morning until nearly one o'clock he was" kept busy with deputations, mostly of a private nature, and with business brought before him by Members of Parliament. In the afternoon he attended the sports of the Polo Club. He will leave for "Wellington in the evening. Sir Joseph absolutely declined to make a statement to the representatives of the Press in regard to the financial position of the Dominion. He said that he would wait until the conclusion of the financial year at the end of this month, and when the public accounts were available he would then have something to say. ' 1 "Will you make your announcements in an interview or will you deliver a speech?" he was asked. He replied that he would probably deliver a speech soon after the eud of the financial year.
