The Southampton News, commenting upon the. performance of " The Merrymakers," says:—"There have been some first-rate entertainers here this season, but 'The Merrymakers,' who are here this week, / are certainly enfi.led to the palm. Attired in quaint costume they afford an attractive picture to the-eye, and being all excellent vocalists their numbeis are exceptionally pleasing to the ear. Each member of the party has been at-, tached to one or other'"of the celebrated comic opera tympanies 1 , and they are accomplished Ttnd clever' ai\isti> in* every sense of the word. A great feature of this entertainment is that every line of it ha 6 been specially written for this tour, and in.many instances, by. the artists themselves. The company contain vocidists head and shoulders abovei the average.; in fact, they all sing admirably, while each has a specialty which has won for .them the honour of hieing the Guccets * of the season so far, and we shall have to go very far to find anything belter. It us very difficult to be original in these days, but .'The Merrymakers' are essentially that."
