NEW ACCOMMODATION BILL. The Shearers' Accommodation Bill was introduced in ' the House, of Representatives on Thursday. The following, are its provisions (a) All buildings provided by the employer for the accommodation of shearers•shall be separate from the buildings used for the shearing of sheep, and shall! be distant therefrom not less than 150 ft, nor more than '9ooft, and. shall not be • kss than 100 ft distant from any killing yard or piggery. lb) Buildings used for sleeping accommodation, and for the cooking and serving of meals, shall be maintained in a clean and healthy state by the employer. (c) Not less than 240 cubic feet of air space shall be ohowed to eacri peitson sleeping in any such building. (d) The height of every sleeping room shall not be less than 9tt 6in, measured by the wall studs. (e)' A sufficient number of bunks shall be provided, by the employer in each sleeping-room for the accommodation of the shearers, but in no case shall more than two tiers of bunks be allow-, ed in any sleeping-room. , - v •(f)". In every sleeping-room a fireplace with proper chimney shall be. provided by the employer. (g) In all bunks or beds mattresses of sufficient chatf or straw shall, where spring mattresses are' not_ provided, be privided by the employer, for each shearer. v (h) No sleeping-room'shall be used "for the cooking or serving of meals, : and a separate sleeping-room shall- be' provided for the cook and assistant (if any). (i) Proper and sufficient light and ventilation shall-be provided in each sleepingroom . and dining-room. (j) Each sleeping-room and dining-room sliall be provided with a wooden floor. . (k) Proper and sufficient cooking utensils ' and table accommodation shall be supplied by the employer in each. cooki ing 'aud dining-room. (1) A sufficient supply of good water for drinking, cooking, and washing purposes shall be supplied, convenient to any building in which shearers are accommodated. (ni) A room containing a boiler --and bath' shall be provided by the employer adjacent to every such building, together with the necessary utensils for washing and for washng clothes. (n) Sufficient sanitatary accommodation shall be provided, situated not less than 100 ft from any building in which shearers are accommodated, anu not less than two hundred feet from the water supply used for cooking, drinking, or washing purposes by the shea rem. (6) A book of instructions on first aid to the injured, ,and a proper and sufficiently supplied medicine chest shall be provided and maintained by every employer for the convenience of shearers; i the price to. be charged for any medicine
