DARING HIGHWAY ROBBERY.
REVOLVERS FREELY USED. Received 1.24 a.m., Januarv 24th. ADELAIDE, January 25. A sensational highway robbery took I>I:;ce at Port Adelaide at 2 o'clock' this afternoon. Mr Greenaway, general manager of Block XIV., and Mr Winter, assistant manager, were driving from the bank to the works with a bag containing £1232 to pay wages. Jest- before they reached the works two mounted and masked men rode up and ordered them to bail up. Mr Winter continued driving, and one of the horsemen drew a revolvei and shot tie horse. Mr Greenaway and I Mr Winter were thrown out. The former was stunned, and Mr Winter injured in tha leg. Mr Winter attempted to draw hi? , revolver, but was covered by the robber's: revolver, and compelled to put up -lib.'; hands. The robbers. secured, -the money and galloped off. The police are pursuicgthernl Mr Greenaway's injnries necessitated his removal to the hospital. ? Received 11.4 a.m., January 24th. Januaiy 24.
Mr Winter fired several shots as the robbers fled. It is believed that they are making for the ranges east of Adelaide. They are splendidly mounted:
