The masters demanded unconditional surrender of the men. At a meeting of the latter tonight, the general opinion waß against a strike. The meeting passed a resolution instructing the members to work with anyone who recognised their rules, and also instructed winchmen who are working alongside non-unionists on certain vessels to B ive 24 hours notice to rescind their engagement. The Auckland Conciliation Board sat to-day at the Supreme Court m committee, considering the Auckland statement m connection with the bootmakers' industrial dispute. A recommendation will probably be made one day this week. A recommendation on the Taranaki statement will be made shortly.
