EXAMINATION IN ART.

The following ere the results of the South Kensington art examination just rtcoived by the Board of Education :- National bronze medal for. designs and illustration of ornament, Florence Brooke j national book for drawing from life, Mabel Hill ; art master's certificate, Mary E Biohardson. TMb is the first certificate of the kind obtained by any art student m the colony, and the Adelaide Bohool of Art is the enly other m, Australia where the same certificate has been obtained. It entitles the holder to appointment ns head of an art school, and if m Grent Britain, to obtain payment upon the works of o Bohool of Art class* (The winner ia a daughter of the Hon B Bichardson, and assistant mistress m the Wellington Bohool of Pesign.)Teaohers' certificates. Ethel Baker, Sarah Jellie, Eliza Benbow.Msry Newton, Jessie Newton. Works by the following were accepted towards the completion of the art master's certificate i - Florence Broome, Kate La wson. William Boun> tree, Mary Kate Kiohardson. Drawing from model;, Alice Perry. The examiners mention that the lohool, if m England, would be entitled to a grant of £22 upon the works submitted by the candidates for composition only It was notified last yea; that the standard would be considerably raised and that no works submitted for third grade certificates under a certain value would be admitted. Under these stringent conditions the success of the local tohool is considered vary creditable.
