rUNBDIN, Septembbb 22. The return football match Southland v Otago was played to-day, and resulted m ■ win for Olago by S points to 3 points, Tb
weather was beautiful, but a BtroDg b'rerze ! was blowing, and Otago, winning the toss, j played with it and scored 2 tries, one of whioh waa converted. The Southlanders appeared to have bad ao much taken out of them that when they had the wind m their favour, although practically opposed by only 14 men (MoKay having been hurt) they were not able to ecoro till the call of time when a try was scored. The game waa good on the whole, but there was too much line>out play m the first spell, the visitors trying to nullify the effeota of the wind.
