(By TatHOBAfH.) NELSON, Sbitbmebb 22. The match between New South Wales and Nelson was played to-day. She attendance waa two thousand, Beautiful weather waa experienced. Tbe ground waa very hard, favouring the vititora who won by 18 points to 4. New South Wales had the best of the gamej but tbrew away numerous cbanoee, scoring by off side play. Shortly after the start Nelson aggressed, and Hsrper potted a goal from a pass by Bhallcraia, and the hopes of ffelsoa'i aopportera roie. Towards the middle of the firat spell Wyhurd tcored from a forward ruab, Carson kicking a goal. Almost before half-time Lane got away and scored a try, after a splendid run from half way. Carson kicked a doubtful goal. Ihe first spell ended— New South Wales 10, Nelson 4 In the second spoil New South Walee had more advantage than m the firat, but failed to make use of their opportunities and were kept from further aooring until within two minutes of time, when Lane icored from a forward passing rush. Wyburd made a poor attempt at a kick /rad the game ended aa stated. The New Sonth Wales tests were daoided favouriter, ai with the exoeptios of two men they were the aame aa played against New Zealand. The Nelson back* played a poor game, tbe collaring betn{ seriously at fault. The forward?, although playing a good game, were over matched bj New South Wales who were muoh heavier Mr Little John refereed. The result ia con< eidered satisfactory to Nelsou.
