THB AHKIVEBBABY SBBVIOE9. The anniversary services of the Timaru Wesleyan Sunday fchool were celebrated yeaterday, the preacher being the Bey Frank W laitt, of Ohristohuroh. In keeping with precedent tho church had by willing haftftfo and loving frionde been beautifully decorate^. Window recesses were filled with choice pot plants, pretty texts and floral wreaths filled m panels, aod ohaina of flowers and leaves hung along tbe walls ; while the baok wall of the churoh and the aroh over the ministerV ; platform were speoially decorated —the whole- >: effeofc being exceedingly good. As it was ' to almost all intents and purpoiea a cbiU i dren's service, a platform and seata _ were i apeoially erected for tbe large choir 1 of | . young people, while apace was set apart for 7 the large orohestra (led by Mr B Wood), and i I the choir proper occupied their acouatomed ' , stalls. The attendance at tbe services of the i I day— ll am, 3 p.m. and 630 p.m.— was I , large, especially co m tha eveniDg. The special hymna rendered by the scholars and the churoh ohoir had been printed ia leaflet form and distributed among the oongreg&tbn. The preacher for the day, tin Bey Mr Ititt, oonduoted the services m a very able manner, his sermons being very powerful appeals to , bis many hearers, olothed m that homely and r convincing form whioh haa made him to , popular m Ohristohuroh and Timaru. Ihe j . singing was a great feature, also , Mr WQii< ( l ohrist conducting and leading the large ohoir \ m such an enthusiastic way as plainly cv.i- , I denoed thorough love for . tho work. Most , of the byans had etirriog choruses, and , m these tho volume of sound and aweel ± , melody was exceptionally fins ; while two , , nuaibers, more m tbe form of '-'ohanta" j than that of hymna, were beautifully rendered , The collections, wbich were m aid of the , , Sunday school fund, wore taken up by four j of the elder girls. Un Wednesday eveniDg , the annual tea and business metting will be ; ', held, and will be followed by a lecture by Mr | laitt on " The Hero of Hayti." ;
