(SI TBIBGBiPHj CHEIBTOHUROH, Sbptbmbeb 20. j At a meeting of the Canterbury -Progressive , Liberal Association to-night a resolution was | oarried— "That all leases granted by tbe Government shall be subject to periodical ( revaluation and adjustment of rent on a ] basis of the value of land, irrespective of improvements, and tbat Mr Q W Russell and Mr GJ Smith, M.H.B.s, be asked to introduce a Bill giving effect to this resolution." j It was resolved to write to the Premier ] congratulating the Government on its deoiaion | to determine some of the coal leases on tbe ( West Coast, and trusting that the Government would shortly determine the whole of ( tbe coalmining leases of the colony, and put , an end to the present extortionate monopoly.
