(Per Eleotbic T-__bobaph— Oopyjmqiit). <Pbb Pbess Association. (Reoeived 12.10 p.m.. Oct. 25th.) Sydney, Oot. 25. The trial of tbe Broken Hill strike' leadera has begun at Doniliqu'm. Fiftyfour jurors were challenged, and eleven farmers are included m tho jury. An official telegram from the Magistrate at Broken Hill states that the miners admit they are beaten, but the main body refuse to resume work. The men are m a dangerously aggressive mood, and police are more required than ever. Adelaide, Oct. 25. The South Australian Kegisier estimates that the Broken Hill strike will result m a loss of £200,000 to the railway and Customs revenue. (Received 7 p.m., Ootober 25th.) .. Loudon, Oct. 24. The Socialists at Bradford have declined the offer of the mill-owners to provide the means of running the mills on the lines laid down by the Socialists themselves. (By Tblbqbwh.) AUOKLAND, Oor. 25. The Hon. W. Reeves, boing interviewed, said that the Shop and Shop A.sistants Bill as pasßed into law was likely to be a failure, and he intends early next session to make a ; strenuous effort to see something more satisi faotory accomplished. Till then the Government will do their best to work the present Aot. Mr Hooves says the influx of labourers from Australia is greatly exaggerated, and is ; mostly a reflux of those who left for Australia during the boom there. OHBISTOHUBOH, Oo_>. 25. A conference re matters connected with ths boot trade, between representatives of tho New Z >aland Manufacturer' Association and the New Zealand Federated Bootmakers* Union, was opened this afternoon.
