The Government have not considered the report of the military commissioners, but are awaiting reports from leading officers on the subject. Sir G. R. Dibbs considers that these officers, having spent half a life time m the oolony, should know something about tbe subjeot, and and their report is likely to have great weight with the Government, A DIFFICULT*. . Melbourne, Oct. 25. At the first meeting of tho Board of Enquiry aßlted for by Mr Al'/ison Smith, to inquire into the adn.in_3t_a.ion of the Locomotive Department, nu unexpected difficulty presented itself. The Order-in-Counoil defined the charges, but no one csmo forward to substantiate them. The Board then adjourned.
