Mr Gladstone, m an article m the Jewish World, states that if the edictß issued by the Russian Government against the Jews are proved to be correct he will urge that steps be taken to arouse the conscience of Europe against the tyrannical action of Russia. THE BRITISH IN AFRICA. The British South Africa Company have concluded a treaty w!th the natives for the cession of the Manisa country. Portugal claims to have protection over this territory. FUNDS FOR THE LAND LEAGUE. Messrs O'Brien and Dillon sail for America on the 25th, and state that they expect to raise £100,000 m aid of the land league.
