' Mr McMillan's budget statement last ' night showed that the revenue for the • | year was £9,426,000, or £92,000 over I the estimate. He expects a surplus ! of £208,000. The customs show a ' decline of £133,000, which the Trea- ] surer accounted for by the recent un- ' fortunate occurrences. £30,000 had ; been carried forward from last year, i and during the year £15,000 had been ' paid off the deficit.. Allowing for these , two amounts the present year ehowa a i total credit of £318,000. Out of the ' surplus of £208,000 the Treasurer proposes to carry forward £58,000, and appropriate the balance to roads and bridges. He estimates the revenue for next year at £9,490,000, and expenditure at £9,661,000.
