Alameda from Aackland and San Francisco. DESTRUCTIVE FIRE. Haddenrig shearing Btatioa at Nevartire, one of the finest m the colony, has been destroyed by sic. Four thousand sheep perished m the flames, and it is estimated that the loss is fully £1300. Incendiarism is expected, as the owner of the station is shearing with free labour. TERRIBLE BUSH FIRES. Tremendous bush fires are rsging at Lismore, an agricultural district, situated on the north arm of the Richmond river, about 520 miles north of Sydney. Vast tracts of territory have been devastated, and the township of Clunea is m danger. The inhabitants of the last mentioned place are out fighting the flames. THE LATE FIRE IN SYDNEY. At the inquest into the extensive fire which broke out on the premises of Messrs Gibba, Shallard and Company, on the Ist insfc. the superintendent of the fire brigade m hiß evidence expressed the opinion that the present water mains m the cily were inadequate to oope with any serious fire. Unless the water authorities Bhortly obtain a supply of coal they will be compelled to cut oS the water supply to the high levels of the city.
