It is stated that Mr Hudson Williamson, the Crown Solicitor, obtained an interview with tho girl Sarah Cleary alias Grace Graham, now m Mount Eden Gaol, charged with being an accessory after the fact m the Great Barrier murder. Mr Napier, counsel for Perm and the girl, has ssnt a highly indignant telegram to the Minister of Justice drawing his attention to the matter. John Grant Forsytli, charged with uttering a forged cheque for £'8 4s, knowing the same to bo forged, has been committed for trial at tho next criminal sessions. Advices received from Fiji state that an appeal has been lodged on behalf of Messrs McArthur and Co. m tho great Samoan land dispute. Tho cutter built by Bailey for the Oamam Naval Brigado was sent South on the Mararoa. Sir George Grey has arrived m town. He has not yet got over a severe cold contracted during the session. The lona left for the Great Barrier to bring tho witnesses required at Caffrey and Perm's examination to-morrow. The Crown Solicitor, Mr Hudson Williamson, also went, and officers of the Survey Department, to make a survey of the house and lands at Tryphena, where the murder was committed. They will also survey the cliff over which Perm ia said to have reached the house. The relieving officer reports that 142 C received relief m October. The number was double that of last year. About 300 persons attended a public meeting this evening, at which resolutions were passed m favour of the formation of a protection league, and promising support to a policy of assisting colonial industries by the imposition of an increase of the customs dutieß.
